Haindl Tarot
The Haindl Tarot stands apart from almost every other deck in the tradition. Hermann Haindl, a painter who devoted his life to his craft, created 78 images that draw from the spiritual traditions of many cultures and connect them to lived human experience and to the natural world. The Major Arcana carry Kabbalistic, runic, and astrological associations, while the Minor Arcana suits are organized by cultural tradition: Wands relate to Hindu tradition, Cups to Celtic and Norse, Swords to ancient Egyptian, and Stones to Native American. Court cards are represented by gods and goddesses from these traditions. The result is a deck of rare artistic quality that people tend to describe as genuinely life-changing once they begin working with it seriously.

Hermann Haindl was a German artist born in 1927 who died in 2013. His paintings reflect his devotion to the natural world, his respect for indigenous peoples and their traditions, his political sense of responsibility for history and the future, and the deeply personal experiences that shaped his understanding of life. His encounters with holy teachers and his travels inform every card in the deck.
